Chard "White Siver 2" - (Given seed by Rosemary Speed)

Attractive green leaves with very white stalks. Use the leaves like spinach and the mid-ribs as celery. Prefers a well drained soil.

Sow March to June in a prepared seed bed. Sow thinly in rows 15in apart. Cover with 1in fine soil. Firm gently. Keep moist.

When large enough thin or transplant to 9in apart. Keep well watered to prevent bolting and keep weed free at all times. Pick stems as required. Harvest July to October.

In the vegetable garden:

Germinated seeds in propagator then in small pots on window sills.

(28-04-07) Transferred plants to single large pot in garden (on top path).
