Courgette "F1 El Greco" (Award winning variety)

Sow: April to May. Harvest July to Oct.

Sow on a windowsill or one seed per 3" pot in a greenhouse at approx 20-25ºC using a good quality compost. Cover seeds with 3/4in compost. Germination 5-8 days. Grow on, planting out when frost risk has passed, 24in between plants each way. Can also be sown direct outside, two seeds per station, thinning to strongest seedling.

Grows best in rich, moisture retentive soil in a sunny position. Water, feed and harvest regularly.

In the vegetable garden:

Sown indoors in kitchen windowsill etc in 3" pots.pots (28-04-07). Used John Innes No. 3 compost. Strongest batch grown on outdoors and planted in John Innes no 3 compost in pots on patio.

Second batch kept on indoors through period of bad weather then planted out in pots containing "grow bag" compost.
18th June first cut of courgettes (from first batch of plants). This first batch continues to produce regular cropping.

Second batch of plants, in grow bag compost have only produced two courgettes (by July 15th).

Wet Weather - after wettest June on record rain continues most days in July. Leaves showing mildew - gave all plants a good 'haircut' removing worst leaves and hoping for better growth of new leaves (if rain ever stops)
